SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIP CONDITIONS

General Championships and Competition Conditions shall apply to all events, with the following additions:

1. ENTRIES
a. Entry Fee for events shall be approved by the Management Committee.
b. Entries on the appropriate form, together with the entry fee, must reach the Swimming Secretary or the appointed Entries Co-ordinator by the published closing date.
c. Late Entries will not be accepted, except in extenuating circumstances. The Swimming Secretary is authorised to accept late entries and notify the Clubs accordingly.
d. Entries must be signed by the competitors Club Secretary or nominated official. Such a signature to be taken as certification of eligibility.
e. Entrants who are members of more than one club must state in writing at the time of entry, the club he/she represents.
f. The Management Committee may refuse an entry from a Club or a member of that Club, which, in their opinion, has not in the past fulfilled its obligations to the Association.
g. Age as at the last day of competition.
h. Where qualifying standards have been set all entrants must have equalled or bettered the entry consideration time. An entry, which is not accepted, will have the fee refunded.
i. For all Team Championships, the reverse of the form must list any club member who may be selected for a team but is not participating in an individual event. Lists must show full name, registration number and address. No swimmer may participate in a team Championship unless their name is on a submitted list.
j. Wherever possible, Entry Cards will be used and will be distributed to the entrant’s club prior to the event. It is the responsibility of the entrants to post their cards in the designated boxes before the card box closing time. Cards, which have been submitted late, will only be accepted if there are spare lanes available for that particular event.
k. A swimmer wishing to withdraw from a final must complete a withdrawal form. Any swimmer who fails to swim and has not previously given notice of withdrawal within the stipulated time shall incur a penalty of £10 and shall not be eligible to swim in any future Association events until the penalty has been paid. Exception may be made in special circumstances.
2. JUNIORS
a. Competitors must be under the age of 17 years on the last day of the competition.
b. The Junior Champion shall be determined by reference to performance in the final, followed by heat times and places. Subsequent placed junior shall be adjudged on the same principle.
3. INDIVIDUAL EVENTS AND AWARDS
a. Open (Men and Women) and Junior (Boys and Girls)

Events are: Freestyle 50m, 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m (female) & 1500m (male),
Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly, 50m, 100m & 200m,
Individual Medley 100m, 200m & 400m

Awards will be made for each individual event. First, Second and Third shall receive medals.
b. Youth: Age 14years, 15years, 16years and 17/18 years (Girls) & 15years, 16years and 17/18 years (Boys)

Events are as for Open and Junior.

Awards will be made for each individual event. First, Second and Third shall collect medals.
c. BAGCATS

Swimmers in the remaining age groups 9years, 10years, 11years, 12years, 13years and 14years (boys only) shall compete in events and receive awards based on their overall performance in the British Age Group Categories (BAGCATS).

The highest fifteen placed swimmers in each age group shall receive an award, when there are more than 20 competitors. In any age group where there are less than 20 competitors the number of awards shall be reduced pro rata.

d. Multi-Disability

There will be 50m, 100m Freestyle for swimmers male and female, classified with a Disability S1-S14.

Awards, First, Second and Third, will be made in each event based on an individual swimmer’s recorded time in comparison with the British Record of their respective classification.
4. TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS
a. Teams shall consist of four swimmers. Swimmers may be freely interchanged for each round of the competition, but no swimmer shall take part as a member of more than one team.
b. Clubs shall be allowed a maximum of three teams. If there are too many entries, this may be reduced.
c. On the day of the event, the names of swimmers actually swimming in the team must be declared on the reverse of the entry card.
d. Events are:
Club 4x100m Freestyle and 4x100m Medley Teams for Men and Women
Club 4x200m Freestyle Team for Men and Women
Club Junior 4x50m Freestyle and 4x50m Medley Teams for Boys and Girls
Club Age-Group 13/14yrs 4x50m Freestyle and 4x50m Medley Teams for Boys and Girls
Club Age-Group 9-12yrs 4x50m Freestyle and 4x50m Medley Teams for Boys and Girls.
e. Awards will be made for each event. Members of Teams placed first, second, and third shall receive medals.
f. In age-group events, teams reaching finals will receive an award.
5. HEATS AND STATIONS
a. Heats shall be swum in order of slowest to fastest using submitted times.
b. For Open events of 50m, 100m and 200m finals shall be swum.
c. All other individual events shall be decided on a heat declared basis.
6. DISPUTES
Wherever possible, a Jury of Appeal shall be appointed.
