SWIMMING DEVELOPMENT COMPETITION CONDITIONS

  1. The competition shall be conducted in accordance with ASA Laws and ASA Technical Rules.
  2. Eligibility: The Development Competition is designed for swimmers who have not, at the time of entry for the Championships, achieved the Championship qualifying standards.
    • The competing members of any club allocated to HCASA shall be allowed to compete providing they are eligible as defined in ASA Law except that no one who has competed in the Championships of another County shall be eligible to compete in the same year.
    • A Swimmer who achieves ANY individual award in the Championships may not compete in any event in the Development Competition in the same year.
    • A Swimmer who takes part in an individual championship event (Open, Junior or Age Group) in the same year of competition, may not enter the corresponding stroke in this competition.
  3. Entries: 
    • Entry Fees for events shall be approved by the Executive Committee.
    • Entries on the appropriate form, together with the entry fee, must reach the Hon. Swimming Secretary by the published closing date.
    • Late Entries will not be accepted. In exceptional circumstances, the General Purposes Committee or their appointed representative will make an acceptance decision.
    • Entries must be signed by the competitors Club Secretary or nominated official. Such a signature to be taken as certification of eligibility.
    • Entrants who are members of more than one club must state in writing at the time of entry, the club he/she represents.
    • The General Purposes Committee may refuse an entry from a Club or a member of that Club, which, in their opinion, has not in the past fulfilled its obligations to the County Association.
    • Age as at the 31st December in the year of competition.
    • In the interest of safety and to ensure the smooth running of the competition the County Association reserves the right to limit the number of entries to any event. Swimmers may enter a maximum of 8 events.
  4. Individual Events and Awards:
    • Swimmers aged 10yrs-14yrs shall compete in events and receive awards based on their overall performance in the British Age Group Categories (BAGCATS). Awards will be made to swimmers placed 1-15 in each BAGCAT.

5. Starting: The two start rule will operate for this competition.

6. All events will be decided on a heat declared basis.
